The Andalusian mosque was built between 859 and 860 by Mariyam, sister of Fatima el Fahriya.
Where to sleep in Fez?
Its current limits go back to the Al Nasser era (Almohads dynasty). The Merinides equipped it with a library and a fountain in the court. Its restoration was under Moulay Ismail era (Alaouites dynasty).

Fez, the fondouk and the Nejarine fountain
The fondouk and the Nejarine fountain (the carpenters) dating from the XVIIIth century are located in the place of the same name...
Their architecture testifies of the new tendencies which marked the building art and monumental decoration in Fez at the beginning of the Alaouite era.
In 1997, the fondouk was transformed into a museum of joinery and wood.
Asilah, Dshar Jdid or the antique Zilil
The site of Dshar Jdid is located 13 km to the North-East of the city of Asilah and to the east of the village of Had el Gharbia.
Between 33 and 25 B.C, the Emperor August installed there one of the three Roman colonies of Western Mauritania, Iulia Constantia Zilil.
Where to sleep in Asilah?
The archaeological excavations enabled to release from the residential districts, a big temple, a thermal unit, an imposing cistern with four compartments, supplied with a partly underground aqueduct, will be built to supply it with water, subsequently to Hadrian.
The most spectacular creation is the Paleochristian church, with three naves, equipped
with a baptistery and various appendices, close to the western door of the enclosure, unique monument of this category released in Mauritania Tingitane.
The city was destroyed in the beginning of the Vth century. However the final ending of the human occupation of the site is not known yet.
